Project: Efficient data extraction and processing of SQL databases for temporal queries


Often, when using external databases, only the current state of a database is available. Queries involving previous states of the database can therefore only be answered if the external database is polled at regular time intervals and changes with its previous state are subsequently computed and stored in another database. This latter database can then be used to compute these temporal queries. The extraction of changes in external databases is computationally expensive and forms the bottleneck for shortening the polling time intervals. The company AAE [1] is faced with this challenge and wants to reduce this time interval for their company data. In this project, strategies to improve the computational efficiency of this extraction process are investigated.

This project is done (primarily) on-site at company AAE in Helmond.
