Database management systems for libraries (as in, institutions for lending books) need to satisfy a number of specific needs, in particular regarding the types of queries that need to be supported and regarding performance of the queries that are most often executed. In this project a clean-slate approach is taken where a comparison of state-of-the-art database management systems is made with respect to this library context. This comparison is supported by proof-of-concept implementations.
This project is done in cooperation with the Anet department [1] of Antwerp University.
